Terms of Sale

Last updated 2 October 2026

These terms apply every time you order from The Dove Letter. By placing an order you agree to them. Please read the arbitration and class action waiver section — it affects how any dispute between us is resolved.

1. Who we are

The Dove Letter is a trading name of THE DOVE LETTER, LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we", "us", "our").

Contact: thedoveletter@gmail.com
We will give our postal address on request.

2. Age

You must be at least 13 years old to order. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only order with the permission of a parent or guardian, and they accept these terms on your behalf.

We do not verify age. If we learn that an order was placed by someone under 13, we will cancel the order, refund it in full, and delete the information we hold about it.

3. What we sell

A single letter, printed by us on cream card in a script typeface, placed in a cream envelope, closed with a red wax seal, and posted within the United States.

The words in the letter are assembled from text we have written in advance, with a verse from the King James Version of the Bible. You choose the recipient, the occasion and the feeling, you may choose between verses, and you may edit the lines we wrote. Scripture is not editable and is printed as written.

Letters are printed. They are not written out by hand.

Three printed pieces go in the envelope beside your letter. Two are cards, a card of five short things to do and a note from a pastor we have selected, carrying content we choose for the month: it is the same for every letter ordered in that month, it changes monthly, and the version printed is the one that was live when you placed your order. The third is a small printed keepsake carrying the verse you chose, which we do not describe on the site so that the recipient finds it. None of these is shown in the checkout preview, which shows your letter only.

4. Orders

Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we take payment. Until then we may decline it for any reason.

We may refuse any order, at any time, for any reason or no reason. If we refuse an order after taking payment, we will refund the full amount and tell you that we could not send the letter. We do not have to explain why.

5. The words you provide

You may type a recipient's name and edit the lines of your letter. You are responsible for everything you write.

You must not use The Dove Letter to send anything that:

  • threatens, harasses, intimidates or stalks anyone;
  • is obscene, hateful, or incites violence against any person or group;
  • impersonates another person;
  • reveals someone's private information;
  • infringes anyone's rights; or
  • is unlawful for any other reason.

We may review anything you write before printing, but we are under no obligation to review anything, and reviewing some orders does not make us responsible for any order. If we decide, in our sole judgement, that what you have written falls into any of the categories above, we will refuse the order under section 4 and refund you in full.

By submitting words to us you grant us a licence to store, reproduce and print them for the purpose of fulfilling your order.

6. Price, tax and payment

Prices are shown on the site in US dollars and include postage within the United States. Sales tax is added at checkout where we are required to collect it.

Payment is taken by Stripe. We never receive, see or store your card number.

We may change our prices at any time. A change does not affect an order we have already accepted.

7. Changing or cancelling your order

Letters are printed promptly after review. You may ask us to change or cancel your order at any time before it has been printed. Email thedoveletter@gmail.com with your order number.

Once a letter has been printed we cannot change or cancel it. Whether a change is possible therefore depends on whether printing has begun, not on a fixed number of hours after ordering.

8. Addresses

You are responsible for the address you give us. If the address is wrong, incomplete, or the recipient no longer lives there, the letter may not arrive, and we do not refund or reprint letters sent to an address you supplied incorrectly.

You may have the letter posted to your own address instead, and hand it over yourself.

9. Delivery

See our Shipping Policy. We do not guarantee an arrival date.

10. Refunds

See our Refund Policy.

11. Discount codes

Discount codes are personal to the email address they were issued to, may be used once, cannot be combined, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn or expired by us at any time.

12. Intellectual property

The King James Version of the Bible is in the public domain in the United States. Everything else on this site — the text we wrote, our name, our seal, our designs — belongs to us. You may not copy or reuse it without our written permission.

13. No warranties

We provide the site and the letters "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted or error free, or that a letter will arrive by any particular date.

We do not promise any particular reaction from the person who receives your letter.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the order the claim relates to.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, or emotional distress, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, liability or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from the words you gave us to print, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of the service.

16. Disputes, arbitration, and class action waiver

Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights.

Informal resolution first. Before starting any proceeding, email us at thedoveletter@gmail.com and give us 30 days to resolve it. Most problems are fixed with a refund.

Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, any dispute between you and us will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitrator's decision is final. Fees are allocated under the AAA rules.

Small claims exception. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court, if it qualifies.

Class action waiver. You and we each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable, the whole of this section 16 does not apply.

How to opt out. You may opt out of arbitration and the class action waiver by emailing thedoveletter@gmail.com within 30 days of your first order, with your name and the words "arbitration opt out". Opting out does not affect anything else in these terms.

Time limit. Any claim must be brought within one year of when it arose, or it is permanently barred.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Subject to section 16, any court proceeding must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida.

18. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The version in force when you place an order is the version that applies to that order. The date at the top shows when we last changed them.

19. General

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours. These terms, together with our Privacy, Refund and Shipping policies, are the whole agreement between us.
